Student Journalists join the 2013 DSPC By: Bea Bianca Lazo

           Twenty-four qualified student journalists of Tenejero Elementary School (TES) competed in the 2013 Division Schools Press Conference held at the Balanga Elementary School last Oct 10, 11 and 13.

            The student journalists were selected through a one-day local press conference wherein students joined a lecture about the different sections of a newspaper followed by an activity session to test their journalistic skills. After selecting the qualified students, various trainings were held to hone their skills. 

The school paper adviser, Ms. Edelyn Manalaysay, and journalism trainors namely, Ms. Edeliza Manalaysay, Mrs. Sharon Ibasco, Mrs. Luzviminda Montemayor, Mrs. Maribeth Antonio and Mr. Rocky Solomon also launched a campus journalism training which aims to develop the skills of the young journalists of TES for their chosen categories. The trainers discussed the various functions of the newspaper and gave tips in writing a story, making an editorial cartoon and capturing photos.

The participants  are: Chelsie Gail Espuelas –News Writing (English); Bea Bianca Lazo-News Writing (Filipino); Mariel Replan- Sports Writing (English); Harvey Champs Aguila- Pagsulat ng Balitang Isports; John David Garcia- Editorial Writing(English);Andrei Lazo-Pagsulat ng Pangulong Tudling; Carlos Ervin Reyes- Photojournalism (English); Justin Gabriel Espuelas-Photojournalism (Filipino); Jara Denise Tuazon – Copyreading and Headline Writing(English); John Lloyd Rosete Copyreading and Headline Writing (Filipino); Mary Rose Nazareno - Feature Writing(English) Mary Trisha Yumol - Feature Writing (Filipino); Savannah Rose Paraiso-Editorial Cartooning (Filipino); Eliandra Melendres– Editorial Cartooning (English); Maicho Cuaresma-Anchor; Jeremy Talastas- News Presenter; Jasper Fontanilla-Technical Application; Krysta Allysa Espuelas and Angelica Faith Tuason- Infomercial;  Katherine Kelly Festijo and Hanna Grace Castro –  Scriptwriters.

The mentioned students are members of the TES Student Publication which aims to enhance students’ capabilities in writing, cartooning and photography.

THE TES GAZETTE is a venue for pupils to articulate their thoughts, feelings and share updates about the TES family. Another purpose is to build open communication among the school staff, teachers, students, and to the whole TES community.
